Our enrichment journey to Indonesia was an unforgettable experience centered around playing gamelan. When we first arrived, we (the youth) felt a bit shy, especially during our first evening with the kenduren. However, as the days went by, we gradually built astrong bond with the local students, which made the entire trip even more enriching.

Through out the program, we participated in various workshops for the performance day that deepened our understanding of Javanese culture and music. One of the highlights was engaging with kindergarten children, which was both heartwarming and fun. We also visited Mahasvin Farm, where we learned about local wildlife and conservation efforts.

Outside of the scheduled activities, we went to the malls or tried out street food. We also enjoyed theevening with the students at Suburbuns, where we shared meals and stories, further strengthening our connections. Another memorable excursions was ourtrip to Solo, where we had the opportunity to meet a dalang, a puppet master. We watched a short fragment and afterwards we even got to play together. But I think that nothing tops the big day on July 27th, the day of the performance!

At the time, the sheer number of activities felt overwhelming, but looking back, each experience contributed toa profound understanding of Javanese performing arts and community spirit. The friendships we formed and the skills we gained through gamelan and other cultural activities have left a lasting impact on us. This enrichment program was not just a series of events, it was a journey of personal growth and cultural exchange that we will cherish forever!
