Literally translated, “gema” means “echo” in Javanese and Indonesian. In the context of the foundation, this word symbolises the resonance of Javanese culture and traditions that resonate through the generations.
“Rasa” can be translated as “feeling”, “taste”, or “essence” in Javanese and Indonesian. It refers to the deep emotional connection and feeling one gets when practicing and experiencing Javanese dance and music.

Stichting Gema Rasa (SGR) nam deel aan een cultureel evenement tijdens de Wereldhavendagen op zondag 8 september 2024. Aan boord van de Zeesleper de Fighter werd op het openluchtpodium de theatervoorstelling Dewi Sri aan het publiek gepresenteerd. Deze voorstelling was een initiatief van M.A. Intorno, ondersteund door schrijfster Ingrid Chen, en begeleid door live gamelanmuziek van de groep Jiwa Manunggal van SGR en Hindoestaanse muziek van Prewien Pandohi-Mishre & Ensemble.
